
In a significant move to strengthen India's manufacturing ecosystem, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has joined hands with Mercedes-Benz India Private Limited. The two organizations recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to drive innovation, road safety, and environmental sustainability. This partnership aims to support startups, entrepreneurs, and innovators in achieving technological excellence while fostering societal development.
A Strategic Collaboration for Long-Term Impact
The collaboration will focus on structured programs that provide startups with essential resources such as infrastructure, mentorship, funding opportunities, and market linkages. It also aims to facilitate international collaborations, ensuring seamless knowledge exchange that will have a lasting impact on India's industrial landscape.
Speaking on the occasion, Joint Secretary, DPIIT, Shri Sanjiv emphasized the significance of this partnership. He highlighted that working with Mercedes-Benz India would enhance India’s manufacturing capabilities while promoting responsible and sustainable innovation. He further stated that this initiative would help “strengthen industry-academia linkages and create an ecosystem that drives impactful technological advancements.”
Mercedes-Benz India’s Commitment to Social Responsibility
Mercedes-Benz India’s Managing Director, Shri Santosh Iyer, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, aligning it with the company’s core focus areas—road safety, environmental sustainability, and advanced manufacturing. He reiterated that Mercedes-Benz India would actively support startups and incubators through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding, ensuring meaningful societal impact.
Signing the MoU
The MoU was formally signed by Director, DPIIT, Dr. Sumeet Kumar Jarangal, and Managing Director, Mercedes-Benz India, Shri Santosh Iyer, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.
