External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar is expected to visit Russia from August 18 to 21 in a significant diplomatic engagement aimed at strengthening India-Russia ties. During his visit, Jaishankar is likely to meet top Russian officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Dennis Manturov, to discuss a wide range of bilateral issues spanning trade, investment, defence cooperation, and geopolitical developments.
On August 20, EAM Jaishankar will also address a high-profile business forum, where he is expected to highlight opportunities for deeper economic collaboration between India and Russia. According to the Russian foreign ministry, the visit will culminate in a meeting between EAM Jaishankar and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on August 21.
This high-level engagement comes close on the heels of National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval’s recent visit to Moscow, where he met Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin on August 7. Doval’s meeting with Putin underscores the ongoing strategic dialogue between the two nations amid shifting global geopolitical dynamics.
The back-to-back high-level visits indicate a strong push from both New Delhi and Moscow to further consolidate their strategic partnership at a time when global alignments are undergoing rapid change.
