BHEL Secures ₹11,800 Crore EPC Contract for Korba West Supercritical Thermal Power Plant

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received a major boost in its order book with a Letter of Intent (LoI) from Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL) for the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) package of the 2x660 MW Korba West Supercritical Thermal Power Plant (STPP).

Project Overview

The project, located at Hasdeo Thermal Power Station in Korba District, Chhattisgarh, involves:

✅ Supply of supercritical equipment, including Boiler, Turbine, Generator, and associated auxiliaries.
✅ Installation of Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (C&I), and Balance of Plant Packages.
✅ Erection and commissioning of the entire system.
✅ Civil works for plant construction.

Contract Details

  • Contract Value: ₹11,800 Crore (excluding taxes & duties)

  • Awarding Entity: CSPGCL (Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited)

  • Contract Type: Domestic Competitive Bidding

  • Execution Timeline: 60 months (5 years) to commercial operation
