In a significant incident at Gokak Textile's solar power plant in Karnataka, a blast occurred on March 6, 2025, at approximately 5:00 PM. The explosion took place in one of the inverters at Block-08 of the solar plant located in Gokak Falls, Belagavi district.

The fire resulting from the blast was swiftly controlled within 30 minutes by firefighters. Fortunately, no injuries or human casualties were reported. The company has initiated an investigation to determine the root cause of the incident and assess the extent of the damage.

Insurance Coverage and Recovery Measures

The affected inverter is under warranty, and the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) has been informed. Additionally, the company holds a comprehensive Industrial All Risk (IAR) policy, with coverage amounting to Rs. 311.31 crores for material damage and Rs. 37.84 crores for business interruption.

The company has also informed its insurance provider about the incident and has requested a surveyor to evaluate the situation. Measures are being taken to ensure a quick resumption of normal operations.

Impact on Operations

The plant has a total power output from Block-08, where the malfunction occurred. One of the inverters with a 2.5MW capacity has been damaged, while the second inverter remains intact. The company is awaiting an inspection and clearance from the OEM personnel before resuming operations on the unaffected inverter. Further updates regarding the operational impact will be provided after the full assessment of the damage.
