China Welcomes Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn for Historic State Visit to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning announced that His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua of Thailand will pay a state visit to China from November 13 to 17 at the invitation of the Chinese government. During the visit, President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang will each meet with the Thai monarch, marking a significant moment in the history of China–Thailand relations.

This visit holds special importance as it will be the first time King Maha Vajiralongkorn visits China since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. China is also the first major country that the Thai King has chosen to visit officially, which, according to Mao Ning, fully demonstrates the great importance both nations attach to the development of their bilateral relations.

China and Thailand have long shared deep-rooted friendship and cooperation, often describing themselves as “close and friendly neighbors” and “one family.” The two nations have built a strong bond as part of their shared vision for a “community with a shared future.” In recent years, under the strategic guidance of leaders from both sides, China–Thailand relations have continued to grow robustly, showing mutual respect, cooperation, and understanding.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Thailand — an event referred to as “the Golden Jubilee of China–Thailand Friendship.” The milestone provides an opportunity for both nations to further strengthen their partnership and explore new areas of cooperation.

Through King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s visit, China aims to deepen political mutual trust, enhance mutually beneficial cooperation, and carry forward the traditional friendship that has connected the two peoples for generations. Beijing also hopes the visit will lead to greater progress in building the China–Thailand community with a shared future and bring tangible benefits to both sides.

Moreover, China expressed optimism that the visit will contribute positively to the broader goals of peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the region. As both countries commemorate five decades of diplomatic relations, this historic state visit symbolizes a renewed commitment to partnership and shared growth between China and Thailand.
