China’s Vice Premier He Lifeng to Visit Switzerland to Strengthen Strategic Partnership

China’s Vice Premier He Lifeng will visit Switzerland, where he is scheduled to meet with the President of the Swiss Confederation and Head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research, Guy Parmelin, according to China’s Foreign Ministry.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said the visit comes at a time when China–Switzerland relations have seen steady and comprehensive improvement. In recent years, practical cooperation between the two countries has continued to yield positive results, while negotiations on upgrading the bilateral free trade agreement have made stable progress. Both sides have also expressed support for multilateralism and for advancing reforms to improve global governance.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the China–Switzerland innovative strategic partnership. It also coincides with the first year of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan period, creating new opportunities for bilateral cooperation.

Guo noted that Vice Premier He Lifeng’s visit is expected to further strengthen communication between the two sides, expand cooperation in key areas, and promote more mutually beneficial outcomes under the framework of the innovative strategic partnership between China and Switzerland.
