China has stated that a growing number of countries have expressed support for its recent countermeasures and military drills related to the Taiwan region, reaffirming the international community’s adherence to the one-China principle and opposition to external interference in China’s internal affairs.
Responding to a question from China News Service, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said that several dozen countries have voiced their support in various forms following China’s latest actions, including the military drills conducted by the People’s Liberation Army near the Taiwan Island. According to Lin, countries such as Russia, Cuba, Serbia, Venezuela, Zimbabwe, Pakistan and others have publicly reiterated their positions.
These countries, Lin Jian noted, reaffirmed their commitment to the one-China principle and made clear their opposition to any form of external interference in matters concerning China’s sovereignty. They emphasized that the Taiwan question is purely China’s internal affair and that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory. They also stressed that so-called “Taiwan independence,” in whatever form, must be firmly rejected.
The spokesperson said China highly commends these countries for their firm and explicit support. He added that the statements made by these nations reflect a clear understanding of international law and the basic norms governing international relations, as well as broad recognition of China’s legitimate position on safeguarding its national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Lin Jian further reaffirmed China’s core stance, stating that China will never waver in its resolve to safeguard national sovereignty, security and territorial integrity. He said China will also never waver in its determination to defend national reunification and protect its vital interests.
According to Lin, China remains resolute in deterring “Taiwan independence” separatist forces from colluding with external forces and undermining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. He warned that any individual or force that crosses the line or makes provocations on the Taiwan question will be met with China’s firm response.
The spokesperson concluded by stressing that all attempts to obstruct China’s reunification are doomed to fail, reiterating Beijing’s position that reunification is an inevitable historical trend and an essential component of China’s national rejuvenation.
