Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M), one of India's leading automotive and farm equipment manufacturers, has reported impressive growth in its sales figures for March 2025. The company achieved record-breaking numbers in both its SUV and farm equipment segments, reinforcing its position as a market leader.
Automotive Sector Growth Mahindra Auto reported total vehicle sales of 83,894 in March 2025, marking a 23% year-on-year (YoY) growth. In the utility vehicle (SUV) segment, the company sold 48,048 units domestically, a growth of 18%. The total SUV sales, including exports, reached 50,835 units.
The commercial vehicle sector also demonstrated strong performance, with 23,951 domestic sales. The company's Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) segment, particularly in the 2T-3.5T category, saw a 23% increase, reaching 18,958 units.
Mahindra’s exports experienced a massive 163% surge, with 4,143 vehicles shipped in March 2025 compared to 1,573 in the same month last year. The company also set a new record by selling 551,487 SUVs in FY25, the highest in its history.
According to Veejay Nakra, President of Mahindra’s Automotive Division, "We ended the year on a positive note, selling over 5 lakh SUVs in the domestic market for the first time ever. The demand for our electric SUVs remains strong, and we continue to expand our international footprint."
Farm Equipment Sector Milestones Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES) also recorded its highest-ever domestic sales in FY25, reaching 407,094 tractor units, an increase of 12% YoY. In March 2025 alone, Mahindra sold 32,582 tractors domestically, reflecting a 34% growth over March 2024.
Total tractor sales, including exports, stood at 34,934 units in March 2025, a 34% increase YoY. Exports alone contributed 2,352 units, showing a 35% rise compared to the previous year. The surge in tractor sales was attributed to favorable weather conditions, strong rabi crop yields, and increased cash flow for farmers.
Hemant Sikka, President of Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector, noted, "The tractor industry has been witnessing good momentum due to favorable weather, good reservoir levels, and strong farmer sentiment. With a promising Rabi harvest, we expect this momentum to continue into Q1 FY26."
Mahindra’s Market Leadership and Global Expansion With these stellar results, Mahindra strengthened its position as India’s No. 1 SUV manufacturer and No. 2 passenger vehicle company by revenue. The company also crossed 50% market share in the LCV (<3.5T) segment and expanded its international operations by 41% YoY.
Additionally, Mahindra became the only Indian auto company to achieve the DJSI Index world leader status for its commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards.
Mahindra & Mahindra's exceptional performance in both the automotive and farm sectors highlights its strong market presence and commitment to innovation. With rising demand for its SUVs and farm equipment, coupled with international expansion and sustainability initiatives, Mahindra is poised for continued growth in the coming years.
