Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Company Limited and a leader in India's renewable energy sector, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh. This agreement aims to explore and develop up to 7,000 MW (7 GW) of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and hybrid solutions, with or without storage capabilities.
A Major Leap in Renewable Energy Development
The MoU signing took place in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, marking a significant step in the state's renewable energy ambitions. The collaboration is expected to bring in an investment of approximately ₹49,000 crore, making it one of the largest renewable energy investments in the region. This initiative aligns with the Andhra Pradesh government’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio and accelerating the transition towards sustainable and green energy.
Beyond contributing to Andhra Pradesh’s clean energy targets, this project is expected to boost the local economy, create job opportunities, and enhance skill development. By doing so, it will contribute to the socio-economic growth of the state.
Aligning with Andhra Pradesh’s Clean Energy Goals
The proposed projects will be developed under Andhra Pradesh’s Integrated Clean Energy (ICE) Policy, a landmark framework that aims to achieve over 160 GW of renewable energy capacity with an estimated investment potential of ₹10 lakh crore.
