This Small-Cap Infrastructure Company Wins Rs. 1,090 Crore Irrigation Project in Maharashtra

Patel Engineering Limited (PEL), a prominent Mumbai-based infrastructure company, has been declared the lowest bidder (L1) for a significant irrigation project valued at Rs. 1,090.45 crore. The project, awarded by the Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation (MKVDC), Pune, involves the construction of a pipeline distribution network for the Nira Deoghar Right Bank Main Canal. Patel Engineering’s share in the joint venture (JV) contract is Rs. 218.09 crore, representing 20% of the total project value,Shares of Patel Engineering Trdaing 2% lower on Feb 18   

Project Overview: The project entails the construction of a pipeline distribution network spanning from Km 87 to Km 135 of the Nira Deoghar Right Bank Main Canal, including its distributaries and minors offtaking between Km 65 to Km 135. Located in Kalaj Village, Phaltan Taluka, Satara District, Maharashtra, the project is set to be completed within 36 months. 

 

The scope of the project includes:

  • Excavation and refilling for pipe trenches.

  • Construction of various structures.

  • Supplying, jointing, lowering, and laying of pipes.

  • Installation of various types of valves, chambers, and outlets.

  • Testing of the pipeline system, including all valves and outlets.

  • Operations, repairs, and maintenance for a period of 5 years post-completion.

 

Strategic Importance:This project underscores Patel Engineering’s expertise in large-scale infrastructure development and its capability to undertake complex irrigation projects. The successful execution of this project will enhance water distribution efficiency in the region, contributing to agricultural productivity and water resource management in Maharashtra.  

 

Joint Venture Partnership:Patel Engineering will execute the project in collaboration with a joint venture partner, although the specific partner has not been disclosed. The JV structure allows for shared expertise and resources, ensuring the project’s timely and efficient completion.
