
Vodafone Idea (Vi) has officially launched its high-speed 5G services in Delhi NCR starting May 15, marking a significant milestone in its national 5G rollout strategy. This announcement follows earlier launches in key cities like Mumbai, Chandigarh, and Patna, as part of the company’s initial phase of 5G deployment. With this expansion, Vodafone Idea is now aiming to roll out 5G services across all 17 priority telecom circles by August 2025.
Following this major development, The stock trading 1% higher and trade at ₹7.05, hitting an intraday high of ₹7.09. The positive momentum came after the company released a press statement highlighting its 5G rollout progress and future plans.
Unlimited 5G Data Plans Start at ₹299
Vodafone Idea’s introductory 5G offering includes unlimited data for users with 5G-enabled devices, starting from as low as ₹299. Customers can now experience high-speed Vi 5G for activities like video streaming, online gaming, real-time cloud access, faster downloads, and high-quality video conferencing.
Ericsson Partnership and AI-Driven Network Enhancements
To build its next-gen 5G infrastructure in Delhi NCR, Vi has collaborated with global telecom equipment provider Ericsson. The partnership is focused on building energy-efficient, lightweight hardware solutions. Additionally, Vodafone Idea is using AI-powered Self-Organising Network (SON) technology to optimize performance. The network operates on a 5G Non-StandAlone (NSA) architecture, ensuring smooth transitions between 4G and 5G.
₹55,000 Crore Investment for 5G Expansion
Vi’s ambitious 5G rollout in 17 circles is part of its ₹55,000 crore capital expenditure plan over three years. Cities like Bengaluru and Mysuru are next in line, with ongoing deployments in other major markets as well. In Mumbai, 70% of eligible users are already experiencing Vi’s 5G services, with 20% of the city’s data traffic running on the 5G network.
MSCI Index Weightage May Rise – A New Positive Trigger
Adding to the positive triggers, Vodafone Idea’s weightage in the MSCI index is expected to increase. This development could attract more institutional investors and improve the company’s market visibility and liquidity.
