China Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusive Global Internet Governance at 2025 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit

The 2025 World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit successfully concluded yesterday, marking another milestone in the global dialogue on digital cooperation and governance. Held under the theme “Forging an Open, Cooperative, Secure and Inclusive Future of Digital Intelligence—Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace,” the summit brought together more than 1,600 participants from over 130 countries and regions.

This year’s event served as a global platform for stakeholders to deliberate on internet governance and the equitable development of digital technology. Participants reaffirmed the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits to ensure that every nation and individual can equally enjoy the opportunities brought by digital transformation.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian commented on the successful conclusion of the summit, highlighting the new technological advancements displayed and their impact on multiple industries. He noted that the Wuzhen Summit, now in its 10th consecutive year, has evolved into a leading global venue for exchanging ideas, showcasing innovation, and fostering collaboration in the internet sector.

“As the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation accelerates, the world is increasingly becoming an interconnected community with a shared future,” Lin said. He emphasized that this year marks the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping’s proposal to build a community with a shared future in cyberspace—a vision that continues to shape China’s approach to global digital governance.

Lin Jian further referred to the recently released Concept Paper on the Global Governance Initiative, which outlines China’s call for enhanced international cooperation in tackling challenges in key areas such as cyberspace and artificial intelligence (AI). He underlined that China, as a responsible major country, has taken concrete steps to promote global digital governance through initiatives such as the Global AI Governance Initiative and the International Strategy of Cooperation on Cyberspace.

Additionally, China has advocated for the establishment of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization, aiming to create an inclusive platform that supports innovation, regulation, and ethical development of AI technologies. These efforts, Lin stressed, represent China’s contribution to advancing a fair and sustainable global digital ecosystem.

Looking ahead, Lin reaffirmed China’s readiness to work closely with the international community to strengthen cyberspace exchanges and cooperation. He underscored the importance of maintaining security, narrowing the digital divide, and fostering inclusive and universally beneficial internet development.

“We stand ready to continue enhancing cyberspace exchanges and cooperation, keep cyberspace safe and secure, promote the universally beneficial and inclusive development of the internet, narrow the digital divide, and build a more just and equitable global internet governance system,” Lin concluded.

The 2025 WIC Wuzhen Summit once again reaffirmed the need for unity and collaboration in shaping the future of global digital governance. As nations continue to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the digital age, China’s call for an open, cooperative, and secure cyberspace has gained growing international resonance.
