China has announced that President Xi Jinping’s Special Envoy, Peng Qinghua, will travel to Turkmenistan to attend the High-Level International Forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust. The forum is hosted by Turkmenistan, which initiated the idea of the International Year of Peace and Trust that was later designated by the UN General Assembly.
Chinese Foreign Minister Guo Jiakun highlighted the significance of this visit, describing Turkmenistan as China’s comprehensive strategic partner. This year marks an important milestone for Turkmenistan as it celebrates the 30th anniversary of its permanent neutrality, a core national policy that has shaped the country’s international identity and diplomatic engagement. The forum provides an opportunity for Turkmenistan to reaffirm this status and contribute to global peace initiatives.
China has expressed strong support for Turkmenistan’s policy of permanent neutrality and acknowledges its constructive role on the international stage as a neutral state. According to the Chinese Foreign Minister, China attaches great importance to the upcoming high-level forum and views it as an essential platform for strengthening dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding among participating nations.
The Chinese side believes that Peng Qinghua’s attendance will help further deepen the implementation of the important common understandings reached between the top leaders of China and Turkmenistan. It is expected to enhance political mutual trust, solidify traditional friendship, and expand practical cooperation across various sectors.
Guo Jiakun added that the visit will inject more positive energy into the ongoing efforts to build a China-Turkmenistan community with a shared future. This reflects China’s broader diplomatic vision of promoting stability, peace, and collective progress through strategic partnerships and multilateral engagement.
