
Mumbai, August 1, 2025: Tata Motors Limited reported total sales of 69,131 units in July 2025 across domestic and international markets, reflecting a slight decline from 71,996 units sold in July 2024.
In the domestic market alone, the company recorded total sales of 65,953 units in July 2025, registering a 6% year-on-year drop compared to 70,161 units in July 2024.
Commercial Vehicles (CV) Segment Shows Steady Growth
Tata Motors saw a solid 7% year-on-year growth in the commercial vehicle segment, with total CV sales at 28,956 units in July 2025, up from 27,042 units a year earlier.
Breaking it down further:
HCV Trucks sales stood at 6,735 units (up 4% from 6,493 units in July 2024)
ILMCV Trucks recorded 5,068 units (a significant 17% rise from 4,341 units)
Passenger Carriers sales reached 4,749 units (up 7% from 4,424 units)
SCV cargo and pickup category saw a decline, with 9,880 units sold (down 3% from 10,178 units)
The CV Domestic sales came in at 26,432 units in July 2025, showing a 4% growth compared to 25,436 units in July 2024.
The CV International Business (CV IB) segment posted a substantial 57% increase with 2,524 units sold in July 2025, up from 1,606 units in July 2024.
The domestic sales of Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (MH&ICV), which include trucks and buses, stood at 12,387 units in July 2025, up from 11,174 units in July 2024. Including international business, the total MH&ICV sales reached 13,669 units in July 2025 compared to 11,886 units last year.
Passenger Vehicles (PV) Segment Contracts
Tata Motors' passenger vehicle segment, however, experienced a decline. Total PV sales, including exports, stood at 40,175 units in July 2025 — an 11% drop from 44,954 units in July 2024.
Looking at domestic PV sales (including EVs), the company sold 39,521 units in July 2025, down 12% year-on-year from 44,725 units in July 2024.
Export performance (PV IB) improved significantly, with 654 units sold in July 2025 as against 229 units in July 2024, marking a 186% growth.
The electric vehicle (EV) segment, combining both domestic and international sales, grew by 42%, with 7,124 EVs sold in July 2025 versus 5,027 units in July 2024.
Despite the decline in overall passenger vehicle sales, the sharp rise in electric vehicles and commercial vehicle exports offers a silver lining for Tata Motors in a mixed performance month.
