Donald Trump Calls for Revival of Keystone XL Pipeline in Truth Social Post

In a recent Truth Social post, President Donald Trump reaffirmed his commitment to reviving the Keystone XL Pipeline, a major oil infrastructure project that was halted during Joe Biden’s presidency. Trump strongly criticized the Biden administration’s decision to cancel the pipeline, calling it an act of incompetence and a blow to America’s energy independence. His post signals a potential policy shift under his leadership, as he aims to fast-track major energy projects in the U.S.

Trump's Push for Keystone XL

Trump’s post read:

“Our Country’s doing really well, and today, I was just thinking, that the company building the Keystone XL Pipeline that was viciously jettisoned by the incompetent Biden Administration should come back to America, and get it built — NOW!”

The Keystone XL Pipeline was initially proposed to transport crude oil from Canada to refineries on the U.S. Gulf Coast. It faced years of political battles, with Trump approving it in 2017 and Biden revoking its permit in 2021, citing environmental concerns. Trump, however, argues that the project is vital for job creation, economic growth, and energy security.

Criticism of Biden’s Decision

Trump did not hold back in his criticism of Joe Biden, stating that the company behind Keystone XL was “treated very badly” by the previous administration. He referred to Biden as “Sleepy Joe” and contrasted his own administration’s policies, emphasizing “Easy approvals, almost immediate start!” This aligns with Trump’s broader stance of cutting regulatory red tape to accelerate industrial and energy projects.

What’s Next for Keystone XL?

Although the original developer, TC Energy, has officially abandoned the Keystone XL project, Trump’s post suggests that he may push for a revival—either with the same company or a new one. He even hinted at welcoming another pipeline company if TC Energy does not return.

With Trump back in office, energy policies are expected to shift dramatically, with a stronger focus on domestic oil and gas production. Whether Keystone XL itself can be revived remains uncertain, but Trump’s latest statement makes it clear that America’s energy infrastructure will be a major priority for his administration.

The debate over Keystone XL is far from over. As Trump signals his intention to restart the project, it remains to be seen whether legal, environmental, and business hurdles can be overcome. One thing is certain—energy policy will be a key battleground in his presidency.
