India Slams Pakistan Army Chief’s Nuclear Threat in US Visit: MEA Calls Remarks “Irresponsible”

New Delhi, August 11, 2025 – The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India has issued a strong statement condemning recent remarks reportedly made by Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, during his visit to the United States. According to media reports, the Pakistani Army Chief issued a provocative nuclear threat, claiming, “We’ll take half the world down with us” — a comment that has sparked outrage and concern across diplomatic circles.

In its official response, the MEA said, “Our attention has been drawn to remarks reportedly made by the Pakistani Chief of Army Staff while on a visit to the United States. Nuclear sabre-rattling is Pakistan’s stock-in-trade.”

The statement further criticized the recklessness of such threats, stressing that the international community can draw its own conclusions about the irresponsibility of the remarks. The MEA underlined that such statements reinforce “well-held doubts about the integrity of nuclear command and control in a state where the military is hand-in-glove with terrorist groups.”

India also expressed disappointment that these inflammatory comments were made from the soil of a friendly third country like the United States. The MEA noted that such behavior undermines diplomatic norms and strains the credibility of Pakistan’s leadership in the global arena.

Reaffirming its position, the Indian government reiterated that it will never yield to nuclear blackmail. The statement read, “India has already made it clear that it will not give in to nuclear blackmail. We will continue to take all steps necessary to safeguard our national security.”

Diplomatic experts believe these developments will likely intensify the already fragile India–Pakistan relations, especially at a time when global attention is focused on nuclear safety and regional stability. The Pakistani Army Chief’s comments are being viewed as an escalation of aggressive rhetoric, further isolating Islamabad on the world stage.

While Washington has yet to officially respond to the controversial remarks, analysts say the United States and other allies will be closely watching the fallout from this episode, particularly in the context of nuclear proliferation concerns in South Asia.
