Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has announced that it will pass on the full benefit of the recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) reduction to its customers across the country. The revised GST rates on commercial vehicles, effective from 22nd September 2025, will lower the tax to 18 percent, significantly reducing the prices of Tata Motors’ entire commercial vehicle portfolio.
Making the announcement, Mr. Girish Wagh, Executive Director of Tata Motors, highlighted the government’s decision as a bold and timely reform. He stated that the GST reduction will play a key role in revitalizing India’s transport and logistics backbone. Acknowledging the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister and the reforms initiated by the GST Council under the leadership of the Hon’ble Finance Minister, he emphasized that Tata Motors is proud to extend the full benefit of this tax cut to customers nationwide. He further added that with its long legacy of trust, future-ready mobility solutions, and wide-ranging portfolio, Tata Motors continues to be the preferred partner for businesses that drive India’s growth.
Commercial vehicles are central to India’s economy as they facilitate logistics, enable trade, and connect communities across the country. With this price reduction, Tata Motors aims to make transportation more affordable by lowering the Total Cost of Ownership for fleet operators, small businesses, and transporters. By doing so, the company expects to encourage faster fleet modernization, promote the adoption of cleaner mobility solutions, and help operators improve profitability and efficiency. The initiative is expected to bring significant relief to businesses that rely heavily on commercial transportation.
The reduction in prices will apply to all categories of Tata Motors commercial vehicles, with potential savings for customers being substantial. According to the company, the effective reductions, starting 22nd September 2025, are as follows:
Heavy Commercial Vehicles (HCV): from Rs 2,80,000 to Rs 4,65,000
Intermediate, Light, and Medium Commercial Vehicles (ILMCV): from Rs 1,00,000 to Rs 3,00,000
Buses and Vans: from Rs 1,20,000 to Rs 4,35,000
Small Commercial Vehicle (SCV) Passenger segment: from Rs 52,000 to Rs 66,000
SCVs and Pickups: from Rs 30,000 to Rs 1,10,000
The revised prices will not only benefit large transport companies but also small fleet operators and individual business owners who form the backbone of India’s logistics and mobility ecosystem. This move is particularly timely as it coincides with the upcoming festive season, traditionally a period of higher vehicle sales. Customers are encouraged to book their vehicles early to take advantage of the festive demand and the lower prices.
Industry experts believe this step will give a major boost to the commercial vehicle sector, which has faced challenges in recent years due to rising input costs and slowing demand. By reducing the overall burden on transporters, the GST cut and Tata Motors’ decision to fully pass on its benefits could act as a catalyst for growth in the logistics and transportation industry.
With this announcement, Tata Motors has once again reinforced its commitment to empowering businesses and enabling economic growth through customer-centric initiatives. The company remains focused on providing advanced, reliable, and cleaner mobility solutions, making it easier for operators across India to modernize fleets, reduce operational costs, and increase productivity.
As the new GST rates come into effect on 22nd September 2025, Tata Motors’ decision is expected to set the tone for a wave of positive developments in the commercial vehicle market, ensuring that India’s logistics backbone grows stronger while businesses gain the much-needed financial relief.
