Two Israelis Shot Dead by Suspect Outside Capitol Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C.

At approximately 9:08 p.m. Yesterday Night, multiple 911 calls reported a shooting near Third Street and F Street Northwest in Washington, D.C. Responding officers discovered one adult male and one adult female unconscious and not breathing at the scene.

DC Fire and EMS arrived promptly, but despite all life-saving efforts, both victims were pronounced dead.

Preliminary investigation indicates the victims were exiting an event at the Capitol Jewish Museum, located in the 500 block of Third Street Northwest, when the shooting occurred.

Authorities believe the shooting was carried out by a single suspect, who is currently in custody.

Before the shooting, the suspect was seen pacing outside the museum. He then approached a group of four individuals, produced a handgun, and opened fire, striking the two victims.

After the incident, the suspect entered the museum and was detained by event security. He was handcuffed, identified the location where he had discarded the weapon, and the firearm was subsequently recovered by police.

While in custody, the suspect chanted, “Free, free Palestine.”

The suspect has been tentatively identified as 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez of Chicago, Illinois.
