China Prepares to Welcome President Macron for His Fourth State Visit: A Key Moment for China-France Relations

China has officially announced that French President Emmanuel Macron will soon pay a state visit to the country, marking his fourth such visit and serving as the reciprocal trip to President Xi Jinping’s historic state visit to France last year. That visit commemorated the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France — a milestone that continues to shape the modern partnership between the two nations.

According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian, the upcoming visit carries significant diplomatic weight. President Xi Jinping and President Macron will hold formal talks aimed at steering the bilateral relationship under the evolving global landscape. The two leaders are expected to discuss major international and regional hotspot issues, reflecting the growing importance of China-France strategic coordination.

During the visit, President Macron will also meet with Premier Li Qiang and Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, further strengthening high-level engagement between the countries.

China has emphasized France’s unique role in its diplomatic history. France was the first major Western nation to establish ambassador-level diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China, giving the relationship a distinct heritage and value. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of both presidents, China and France have maintained close exchanges across multiple sectors, advancing practical cooperation and aligning positions in multilateral forums.

At a time when the international environment remains volatile and complex, China expresses readiness to work with France to uphold the spirit that originally shaped their diplomatic ties. Beijing hopes the visit will enhance strategic communication, deepen economic and practical collaboration, and encourage stronger coordination on global governance issues. Both sides aim to inject fresh momentum into their comprehensive strategic partnership and foster steady, healthy development in China-EU relations.

Ultimately, China expects the meeting to support multilateralism and contribute to a world that is more peaceful, stable, and prosperous.
