China Responds to Trump’s Remarks on Taiwan and Possible China Visit

During a press briefing, the Chinese Foreign Ministry addressed comments made by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding Taiwan and the possibility of his future visit to China.

Trump had said he believes China will not attempt to invade Taiwan, expressing confidence in his relationship with Chinese President Xi Jinping. When asked about U.S. Pentagon assessments predicting potential military action around 2027, Trump responded, “I think we’ll be just fine with China. China doesn’t want to do that.” He also mentioned plans to travel to China early next year.

In response, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun reiterated that China’s stance on Taiwan has always been firm and unchanged. He emphasized that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory and that the Taiwan question is purely an internal matter for China to resolve.

Guo added that China continues to pursue peaceful reunification with utmost sincerity and effort, but firmly warned that no individual or force will ever be allowed to separate Taiwan from China in any form.

On the question of whether President Trump has been officially invited to China, Guo stated that heads-of-state diplomacy plays an irreplaceable strategic role in guiding China-U.S. relations. He confirmed that the leaders of both countries maintain close communication, but said he had no specific information to share regarding Trump’s reported visit.

This development underscores the ongoing diplomatic engagement between Washington and Beijing even amid sensitive geopolitical concerns surrounding Taiwan.
