
In a robust start to the new financial year, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.), one of India’s premier automotive giants, reported strong sales figures for April 2025. The company clocked total auto sales of 84,170 vehicles, marking a 19% year-on-year growth, a testament to the brand’s growing dominance and consistent consumer trust.
SUVs Continue to Drive Growth
The spotlight was firmly on Mahindra’s Utility Vehicles segment, especially SUVs, which surged with sales of 52,330 units, reflecting a healthy 28% jump compared to April last year. This growth underscores Mahindra’s stronghold in the SUV market, bolstered by its popular models and customer-focused innovations.
Overall, the company sold 54,860 vehicles in the domestic utility segment, including exports. Notably, commercial vehicle sales touched 22,989 units, with mixed performance across categories:
Light Commercial Vehicles (<2T) declined by 21%
LCV (2T–3.5T) rose 9%
Heavy CVs (LCV >3.5T + M&HCV) grew 10%
3-Wheelers saw a slight dip of 1%
Exports Boom with 82% Growth
A remarkable highlight of the month was the exponential growth in exports. Mahindra exported 3,381 vehicles, an impressive 82% increase from 1,857 units in April 2024.

Tractor Sales Hit 40,054 Units in Farm Equipment Sector
In addition to its auto performance, Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES) reported a strong month. The company sold 38,516 tractors domestically in April 2025, up 8% from 35,805 units last year. Total tractor sales, including exports, reached 40,054 units, marking another 8% increase. Tractor exports stood at 1,538 units, up 25% from the previous year.
Hemant Sikka, President of the Farm Equipment Sector, noted that the performance was driven by a strong harvest season, good crop prices, and early festive momentum. Positive forecasts for the monsoon and robust rural cash flows further contributed to the surge.
